Middleman was founded by Kyle Julian Skye Muhlfriedel and Clif Shayne, its inception based on a single shared principle: a fanatic obsession with tracking down the rarest, slickest clothing we can find. We see our stock as a secret handshake.  An implicit nod to a knowledge and love of the greatest menswear ever made. Seasons and trends be damned.

Clif hails from Nashville, where he developed an interest in clothes through his distaste for his lower school uniform. As he aged, his sensibilities changed from skate wear to high fashion, and nowadays he’s both an explorer of the cutting edge, citing Kiko Kostadinov and Craig Green among his current favorites, and a student of the past, boasting an encyclopedic knowledge of what came before him. During his time offline, Clif attends Eugene Lang. He can be seen modeling in a recent Midnight Studios campaign, and Middleman's own “Oscar Weekend” editorial.

Kyle is a Los Angelino born and raised, an awareness of fashion indoctrinated into him at a young age by his parents, both rockers from the 80s LA punk scene. Through his youth he picked up style tips from various musicians, including a certain rock n roll hall of famer telling him it was a sin of style to wear underwear with tight pants (a suggestion he did not listen to). This love of rock n roll brought to his attention Hedi Slimane, who in turn inspired him to explore other designers.  Nowadays he counts Nicholas Ghesquière, Ann Demeulemeester, and Takahiro Miyashita among his favorites. When he’s not working on Middleman, he can be found reading scripts for a film production company.
