It’s difficult to pinpoint how to surmise Comme Des Garcons. Launching in 1973, CDG initially caught attention for it’s bold and brash rejections of what a women ought to look like, Rei’s work was characterized by draping black clothing, often harshly distressed. However, like many one-time punks, age has tempered its fury, and CDG has developed into a cultural powerhouse, with tendrils burrowed into every aspect of fashion and design. In 2017, Rei became to first living designer to receive an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.

Among the more popular printed designs CDG has ever conceived, this mid-weight sweat shirt splits the brand’s logo over the front of it. A slick visual trick that still renders it read in one glance, a tribute to CDG’s simple but unmistakable logo.
