Comme des Garçons AW2001 Split Logo Shirt

It’s difficult to distill the empire that is Comme Des Garçons into one cohesive summary. Launched in 1973, CDG initially caught attention for its brash rejections of what a women ought to look like. Rei Kawakubo’s work was characterized by drapey black clothing, often harshly distressed. However, like many one-time punks, age has tempered its fury, and CDG has developed into a cultural powerhouse, with tendrils burrowed into every aspect of fashion and design. In 2017, Rei became to first living designer to receive an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.

Among the more popular printed designs conceived by CDG, this light-weight button down splits the brand’s iconic logo over the chest.
