SS2002’s “Boys Don’t Cry” effortlessly distilled the ideal Hedi Slimane man. Cool and confident, yet a lovelorn romantic — a paradox further accentuated by the ironic title, and visualized with the now signature “Blood Wound” shirting, which peaked out from beneath immaculately cut blazers. With hair swept over their faces, it remained the one window into the gaunt models’ souls.

Hedi produced several excellent combat boots during his tenure, and these certainly fit the bill. Made before Dior Homme’s explosion as a menswear powerhouse, thus done in smaller batches and with pricier materials and techniques, the quality is what one would expect from a legendary fashion house. Sturdy yet supple leather, with blacked out eyelets, and parallel stitches which trace the laces up the boot.

Condition: 8/10. Normal signs of wear, some heel drag.
