“I design clothes for men and women that have a special, strong attitude; for a younger, future-minded generation for whom fashion has become a way to express themselves; to give shelter and strength and the feeling of looking good; a generation that has risen above the question of fashion, sure about its quality and style and their own; celebrating life.”

Heavyweight knits are one of the key familiarities of Dirk Bikkembergs' work. While undeniably Belgian at the root, as seen with his frequent pairings of leather and knitwear, Bikkembergs presents a more macho body of work than his Antwerp 6 counterparts. The minimalist, Belgian sense of restraint is still present, yet his clothing is seemingly more wearable than that of Ann Demeulemeester and Dries van Noten, for example. This piece is a fair example of such. While the cut is traditional to that of a slim-cut military sweater, the two MA-1 inspired cargo pockets on the right arm give it an aggressive flair. The color is a rich, navy blue, and the wool is heavyweight and substantial.
