Helmut Lang SS2000 16 Pocket Cargo Pants

500.00

Lang’s SS2000 collection was intended to be rather dreamlike. The surreal quality of it took shape in the variety of airy fabrics he sent models across the runway in, which were often translucent and revealing. He additionally opted for light colors which did little to obscure the model’s figures. It can be seen as a precursor to the spring show he presented two years later, which, while more stripped down, featured a similar lightness to the designs.

These pants provide a rather interesting clash wholly unique to Lang’s sensibilities. While the silhouette is militant, featuring a whopping 16 pockets and adjustable metal brackets, the fabric and color diminish the severe aesthetic established by the design itself. This exemplary vintage cotton he opted for, rather than the more sturdy moleskin fabric one would expect, defines the subversion of norms which Lang executed on a level perhaps never surpassed.

Condition: 7.5/10. Stains on the upper front left pocket and signs of wear. The stains can be removed.
