Issey Miyake AW1996 Tactical Vest

Issey Miyake is a designer in the truest sense of the word. He exists almost disconnected from the ebb and flow of the fashion world.  A career defined by innovative fabric and construction techniques, and an obsession with a interaction of the wearer’s body and the clothing’s silhouette, he once mused he found “the space between” the clothing and its wearer to be the most interesting. With his philosophical approach to the minute of details, it's no surprise he caught the eye of Steve Jobs, whom he made the iconic black turtlenecks for.

The tactical cargo vest is unquestionably among his most legendary creations. Futuristic and militant in design, yet surprisingly utilitarian in function. It’s made of a sturdy, waterproof nylon, with thick zippers and a hidden hood in back. It has numerous pockets on the inside and out. Features numerous cargo pockets and a large back pouch.
