Martin Margiela Reconstructed Flight Pants

475.00

The reclusive Martin Margiela is truly a designer’s designer. A principle influence on both his peers and those who came after, it’s possible to draw an entire family tree of labels born from Margiela’s ethos. Unlike designers such as Hedi and Rick and Galliano, where the specter of their personality hangs over every creation, one photo of the man exists, and no official interviews were ever conducted, allowing his creations a quality of purity largely foreign in the fashion world. Artistic expression discussed solely on its merits, dissociated from celebrity cosigns and cults of personality. His work was often highly deconstructed, challenging the most innate preconditions held of what clothing and a runway show should consist of — he presented runways shows in parks, showed 2-D clothing, and displayed catwalks where models held their outfits on hangers. He upheaved the foundation that nearly every other designer choses to build up from.

As with many of Margiela's creations, this spin on classic flight pants is not a true reimagination, but rather a slight modification of a variety of details, adding up to a wholly unique design. Zippers cut asymmetrically across the pants, while traditional pockets are interspersed between MA-1 style ones. All zippers are functional, and equipped with tonally-fitting light blue zipper pulls. These pants exemplify the idiosyncrasies the label imbued into all of their creations.
