Takahiro Miyashita began his career quite young, releasing his first N(N) collection at 24 years old.  This has given his fans the distinct pleasure of watching him evolve and experiment as an artist. FW06’s “Noir” stands out as a turning point in the young artist’s career.  Though he’d already delivered classics like “The High Streets”, Noir brought forth a sense of seriousness and depth that he had yet to showcase — promising glimmers of what he’d further deliver in “Love. God Murder.”, “A Closed Feeling”, and his work with The Soloist. He unleashed a parade of scowling models, donning military garb, embellished coats, and coats of leather.  A procession fit for the king of some French poet’s absinthe warped fantasy world. The cuts were severe, coats sat long and tight, with rigid shoulders and narrow torsos. There were shades of Belgium’s finest — nods to Raf Simons’s pre-2001 work and Ann Demeulemeester’s gothic romanticism, yet these allusions did not dilute his singular artistic voice, rather, they prove himself to be not an acolyte but a worthy peer.

This coat is cut long and narrow. It’s bares a solid weight for a gabardine fabric, which lets it hold its shape in motion rather impressively  The lapels and sleeve are etched with a perforated leather, and the chest is embellished with a set of hand-stitched suede diamonds, which we find mirrored with suede clover patches on the sleeve. It features three pockets and intricate darting throughout. The four button closure gives it a rather elegant spin.

Condition: 8.5/10. Subtle marks of wear. Small blemish on the front embroidery.
