Number (N)ine SS2001 Skull Print Parka

Takahiro’s spring 2001 runway played out with the dour solitude of a funeral progression. Models ambled at an impossibly slow pace down the runway, eyes angled down and shoulders slung loose. The morbid undertones were enhanced both audibly and visibly, with a jittery ambient soundtrack rife with string instrumentals phasing into Radiohead’s “Optimistic”, while the clothes were decorated with several different skull graphics, including the now famous “School of Visual Comedy” imagery.

This jacket is adorned with one of Takahiro Miyashita’s first pervasive prints: an abstract rendering of skulls which was placed upon shirts, hoodies, shoes, and bags throughout the collection.
