Number (N)ine SS/AW2003 Destroyed Grunge Cardigan

“Touch Me I’m Sick,” was a mirthless double-entendre - a reference to both the 1988 Mudhoney track, and to Takahiro Miyashita’s weakened physical state, which had prevented him from undertaking the rigorous schedule required to produce two collections in a year. That year he released a single collection, in which the looks were a love letter to Seattle’s ’90s grunge scene. Takahiro produced meticulous reproductions of pieces worn by Kurt Cobain, including the tragic icon’s striped mohair sweater and velvet patched denim.

The body of this distressed cardigan is more intricate than it may appear at first glance, featuring cable knit seams which are criss-crossed and patched together, giving it an irregular texture and thickness throughout.
