Raf Simons AW2002 Oversized Digicamo Turtleneck

Raf Simons AW2002 Oversized Digicamo Turtleneck

Virginia Creeper was Raf Simons masterful perversion of Americana.  A thematic cousin of movies like “Nightmare on Elm Street” and books like “In Cold Blood”. Borrowing it’s name from a poison ivy like plant, Raf sent his models down a forested runway in pieces that — upon first glance — harken back to all of our youths. Summer camp crewnecks, down jackets, and letterman’s filled the runway, but, like sunset in a small town, reveal a nightmarish underbelly through oversized cuts, bondage straps, and distressed tops. Virginia Creeper perhaps stands as Raf’s most direct and viscerally stimulating exhibition of the themes of youth he often calls upon, a duality of both innocence and subversion.

With its frayed, raw hems and murky digicamo pattern, this sweater exemplifies the ominous, yet schoolboy-ish themes Raf aimed to convey with his AW2002 collection. It boasts the classic oversized cut, as featured on the runway. Tagged as "OS" and can fit anywhere ranging from an S-XL depending on the desired fit.
