For her spring 2005 collection, Rei Kawakubo set out to subvert conventional masculinity through use of the color pink. The boyish models who stalked the runway displayed a range of pink hues manifested in, among other forms, hot pink trousers, fuscia paneled shirts and blazers, and double breasted jackets with pink lining. Rei also placed imagery of the Pink Panther, a popular British animated character spun off from a series of Peter Sellers’ films under the same name, onto t-shirts and cycling tops (the colors and flamboyance typically associated with the cartoon detective fit in naturally to her mediations on masculinity.) 

This shirt is composed of a breathable polyester blend, and features the brand’s namesake displayed beneath the Pink Panther.
