Gucci by Tom Ford SS2001 Silk Floral Shirt

$525.00

During his tenure at Gucci, Tom Ford took a label with little to boast besides its monotonous leather and monogrammed work, and remade it into his own gratuitous sexual image. Carrying forth the glamour of the ‘80s in ways both more nuanced and lurid than his predecessors, Ford visibly shocked conservative fashion critics with his exposed G-strings in ‘97, and caused public outcry with his pubic-hair focused marketing campaign in 2003.

Gucci’s spring 2001 collection previewed Ford’s first dalliances with luxurious silk kimono patterns, which would surface again on his Kama Sutra bombers two years later. This pattern appeared on the runway in both this colorway and a deep red iteration, though both runway tops featured an overlapping tie-off fastening, opposed to the button closure seen here.
