Kansai Yamamoto Sequined Mohair Sweater

Kansai Yamamoto Sequined Mohair Sweater

$700.00

Kansai Yamamoto was the designer du jour for David Bowie throughout the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, as he conceptualized several looks quintessential to the visual lexicon of Bowie’s career, including the Ziggy Stardust tour outfits. Kansai also designed the asymmetric striped body suit which appeared on the back of the "Station to Station" cover, and rather tragically once more in Bowie’s “Lazarus” music video. Kansai’s influence has not purveyed cross-generationally like Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto’s, but it can still be seen channeled in the gleeful maximalism of designers like Alessandro Michele of Gucci.
