Gucci by Tom Ford SS2001 Silk Dragon Sukajan

$2,750.00

Tom Ford’s spring 2001 collection was awash with silk fabrics bearing impressionistic prints of floral and tie-dye. The collection opened with a parade of models in undone, torso-exposing kimono tops, silk bomber jackets and luxurious cargos. The latter half took a more sartorial route, with suits featuring the power lapels and sharp tailoring Ford had become known for.

This jacket is among the most famous pieces from the collection. Ford began spending more time in Japan in the early 2000s — soaking up both stylistic and technical inspiration — and this piece is a stunning culmination of his curiosity regarding the country’s rich history of textile work. At the same time, it epitomizes the luxury which Ford made synonymous with his own name. It fits loose, draping the wearer in a rich silk, and features intricate chain stitch embroidery.
